Memento Mori Sheila

memento mori Sheila

‘Sheila’ is the term used in The Gulf Region for what women use to cover their hair/wrap their head. This piece was inkjet printed onto silk fabric. The content is a dictionary definition of the term ‘Memento Mori’ and attempts to juxtapose death with a common luxury lifestyle in the Gulf by using a very common, identifiable item of clothing.

This project was a part of a bigger thesis project titled We Are All Dying - A comment on luxury living in The Gulf Region through the lense of mortality.
